Lawsuit brought alleging workplace asbestos exposure

Asbestos exposure in the workplace can be extremely harmful to workers. Such exposure can sometimes even result in a worker developing cancer. Thus, it is very important for companies to not engage in conduct which results in workers suffering asbestos exposure.

Recently, an asbestos exposure case has arisen in Illinois. The case involves a now-deceased woman.

Reportedly, the woman worked for several companies during the course of her working career. Included among the positions the woman held during her working career were positions of presser, bender, laborer and seed counter. The woman’s son has alleged that the woman was exposed to products containing asbestos during her working career.

The woman’s son further claims that the woman’s husband was also exposed to asbestos during his working career and that this secondarily exposed the woman to asbestos.

According to the woman’s son, the asbestos exposure the woman allegedly suffered caused the woman to develop lung cancer.

According to the article on the Madison/St. Clair Record’s website which reported this story, a lawsuit has been brought by the woman’s son in a court in Illinois in connection to these allegations. Sixty-four companies have been named as defendants in this lawsuit. The woman’s son claims that the companies engaged in negligent conduct which resulted in the woman’s asbestos exposure. The lawsuit is asking for damages.

As the allegations in this case underscore,asbestos exposure can be very harmful to workers. One hopes that companies are held accountable when they commit negligence which results in workers being exposed to asbestos.
