Son files lawsuit after father dies of mesothelioma

Losing a loved one who has suffered an asbestos-related illness can be devastating. These tragic deaths can happen quite quickly after a diagnosis, which can leave family members hurt, confused and looking for answers and a sense of closure and justice. These deaths are typically not accidental; they can be the result of extreme and long-term negligence. That is exactly what one son is doing after his father recently passed away from mesothelioma, an illness linked to asbestos exposure. He has filed a lawsuit against several companies seeking damages for his loss.

Reports indicate that the father had been a victim of asbestos exposure from a young age. He grew up in an area where asbestos contaminated the environment and went on to work for a company that manufactured and supplied products containing asbestos.

The son alleges that his father’s employer and numerous other companies exhibited negligence by failing to warn people of the dangers associated with the asbestos they were manufacturing, transporting, storing, mining and selling. They also neglected to properly test their products and report any defects.

Lawsuits like the one this son has filed are not uncommon. Many family members choose to take legal action against negligent companies for irresponsible and unsafe asbestos practices. Not only can a lawsuit serve as a way to hold these parties accountable, but they can also result in an award of compensation for the families who have lost a loved one as a result of this negligence.
