Asbestos exposure can lead to fatal lung cancer

There are few things more devastating than watching a loved one endure pain and suffering. But family members of victims of mesothelioma or lung cancer often have to watch the disease slowly invade their loved one’s body.

One woman recently filed a wrongful death asbestos lawsuit against a number of different companies. A man in her family died last year from an asbestos-related disease. She alleges that the companies were negligent in protecting him from harmful exposure to asbestos-containing products.

According to the lawsuit, the man had worked in several different locations over a period of 40 years. He developed lung cancer, likely caused by asbestos exposure. Many of the different locations where he worked were thought to have had asbestos-containing products on site. The woman claims that the companies were aware of the risk of asbestos exposure but did nothing to protect the man from inhaling the harmful materials.

The woman recalls the years prior to the man’s death. Because of the lung cancer, his health deteriorated rapidly, often leaving him in a lot of physical pain. His medical expenses grew quickly, only fueled by his inability to work. Eventually the man was unable to fight the disease any longer and died from the lung cancer.

Many victims of asbestos exposure experience situations similar to this one. An asbestos-related disease may take decades to develop and then become crippling over a short period of time, eventually killing the individual who was exposed to the hazardous material.
